About Faultline Artspace

Faultline Artspace was founded in 2011 by artist Ryan McJunkin (BFA 2004, Maryland Institute College of Art). Faultline is 10,000 square feet of studios, galleries, and shared creative space. We have 25 private art studios ranging from 88-700 sq. ft. In addition to providing studios, Faultline also has an art gallery, a wood shop where we make panels, canvas, and linens, figure drawing sessions, social draw nights, and screen printing facilities where we print editions, often on our wood art panels.

Mission

At Faultline Artspace, we are dedicated to empowering Bay Area artists by providing the essential resources they need to create, connect, and thrive. Our safe and versatile studio spaces offer artists a place to work, while our house-made panels and canvases serve as the foundation for creativity. Through our gallery exhibitions and screen printing program, we foster a sense of community, enhance artist visibility, and support meaningful connections between artists and collectors—from seasoned connoisseurs to those just beginning their journey in art appreciation.

Rooted in Oakland, California, our commitment to sustainability and local craftsmanship drives everything we do. By using domestically-sourced and sustainable lumber and materials, we ensure that every panel, canvas, and linen reflects our respect for the environment and our community. Beyond providing materials, we take pride in creating limited edition screen prints in collaboration with local artists, amplifying their voices and bringing their unique visions to life. Our mission is deeply intertwined with the belief that art has the power to transform and uplift, and we are passionate about supporting artists in navigating the challenges of rising living costs in the Bay Area.

We envision an Oakland where artists are celebrated, included, and able to sustain themselves through their work. Faultline Artspace is more than just a space; it is a movement aimed at enabling collaboration, connection, and creativity. We strive to make art accessible and vibrant for everyone involved. We are an equal-opportunity organization that values inclusivity, innovation, and the joy of artistic exploration.

Looking to the future, Faultline Artspace aims to expand our reach by offering even more opportunities for artists. From producing bigger and better art exhibitions, printing art books and producing even more screen prints to maintaining and enhancing our studio spaces, our mission remains steadfast: to brighten our community by fostering an environment where artists can thrive, collaborate, and inspire. Together, we are building a creative haven where art and community flourish side by side.
